Dear Members, liebe Freunde:

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your president.  After 10 years of being Treasurer I needed a break, especially since we have someone capable like Norma to take over the job.

We just celebrated the 45th year of the German-American Societies with a beautiful Anniversary Ball. The club looked stunning and I want to thank Heidi and also her decorating committee for spoiling us once again. We had a full house. Every one complimented the scrumptious dinner cooked by our fabulous Chef Christl and the lovely ballet performance.

A great big THANK YOU to our founders and everyone who has ever been on the board or worked for the club and therefore ensured our longevity.

As we are going into summer we will take a break from our usual activities while Heidi and Willie & Crew keep working hard to get things ready for the Oktoberfest. You should see the list they have - it's truly mind boggling. We are so lucky to have people that are so dedicated. Thanks to them the club grounds has never been in better shape.

We will start again in August with our OPEN HOUSE PARTY on August 28th. Don't forget to sign up to volunteer for the Oktoberfest at that time. Mike Anderson and his committee have been working hard for several months already to ensure that things will run smoothly at this important event. I'm frequently in touch with our fabulous band and they are looking forward to entertaining us again.

Let’s be sure to thank all seven Board Members for their courage and dedication in taking on leadership positions for the good of the club. Every year, when it’s getting close to election time, our members tend to stick their heads in the sand. It can make finding someone for a board position worse than pulling teeth! Now that we have a board in place, it’s important that we give them our full support. Please be courteous and refrain from criticism, because if you believe you can do a better job, go for it! Help out and fix it yourself, we’d be happy to have the help. Oh, too much work and no free time?  Well, we all have that problem, but someone has to do it! After all, we all want to keep our club alive and well so that we can continue those happy and memorable celebrations we’ve been able to enjoy during the last 45 years; fun at the club dances, concerts, Oktoberfest, Karneval events, our productive undergroups, and most of all…the amazing culture and heritage that we stand for.  Let’s welcome our new president, Marianna Roberts, who will lead the way to financial security, enjoyment, fun and camaraderie for many more years to come at the German American Societies!

The time has come to say goodbye to Wendel Jenkins, our wonderful President for the last 3 years, and 2nd Vice President for 5 years prior to that. Wendel, your fellow Board Members would like to say ‘thank you’ for your excellent leadership, help and support through the years. We had so much fun together and made a great team - just like a little family!  At the same time, you were always willing to roll up your sleeves and get dirty, working on problems wherever help was needed. It’s good to know that your interest in the club and your great advice will never be too far out of reach. The board and the membership thank you for that. We’ll see you at the Club Dances, Karneval and at the Oktoberfest!  Wir wünschen Dir alles Gute!
