Karnevalgesellschaft (Karneval or Mardi Gras)

KARNEVAL SEASON – The group meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm and weekly during the Karneval season. We celebrate the Fasching in the German tradition. Called Karneval in Rio, and Mardi Gras in the United States, all you need is a love for life and a willingness for fun and frolic in the spirit of Karneval. We will also have a children’s Karneval group.

Karneval News!

45th Karneval Opening - November 13th , 2010

On November 11th the Karnevalsgesellschaft will crown your new Prinz. With that celebration we will begin our 45th season.

You are all invited to help us celebrate our 45th year on November 13th, under the motto: Costume or Masked Ball. The Kindergroup will once again be our special guests, and they, as well as the audience, will then be introduced to our new Prinz. Until then the reigning Royalty will remain secret. Come and marvel at the medieval costumes, watch the Prinzengarde swing their legs, laugh at the Elferrat’s jokes and “schunkel “sing and dance to the tunes of the Connection. A lot of planning and work has gone into this season, because we especially want to honor Hannes Schuster’s memory. After all, without him we would not have “Spass an der Freude” and there would be no Karneval in San Diego. We do not know a better reason to pay homage to Hannes, than to make merry and to forget the daily grind! We hope to see you all on November 13th. The doors will open at 6:30 and the program will start at 8:11 p.m. Donation at the door will be $10 for members, $12 for guests. As always delicious, home-cooked dinners are available….but please make reservations if you would like to eat (619)442-6637
